‘I’m Satisfied With My Wife’ — Akpabio Denies Extra-Marital Affair Rumors

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has denied rumors of engaging in extra-marital affairs.

On Sunday, a blog listed the names of several female celebrities, claiming they were Akpabio’s “side chicks.” Addressing the matter on the Senate floor on Tuesday, Akpabio firmly denied the allegations, stating, “I don’t merit” these accusations.

The 61-year-old Senate President emphasized his commitment to his wife, Ekaette Akpabio, stating she is his “only wife and I am satisfied with her.” He further described his wife as a “beautiful and loving woman.”

Akpabio criticized social media handlers, urging them to practice with decorum. He reassured that there would be no rash regulation of social media despite the personal attacks. “They went into private abuses. I don’t want to say what they did to me because I don’t merit it. In my tradition, we marry only one wife. They listed so many wives on social media,” he said.

“At the end, it will look as if the Senate President has so many wives, but I am reporting to my colleagues that I have only one and I am satisfied with that one.”

Akpabio also apologized to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Senator representing Kogi Central, for remarks he made previously. Last week, Akpoti-Uduaghan spoke without being recognized by Akpabio, who responded by telling her not to speak as if she were in a “night club.” Following this incident, Akpabio’s phone was overwhelmed with calls, and his wife received numerous insulting messages.

“My wife called me, saying people were angry and published her number. She receives over 2,000 to 3,000 phone calls a day,” Akpabio revealed.

Earlier, actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande also denied having an affair with Akpabio, describing the allegations as a “very wicked lie” and stating that she has never met the Senate President.
