Just In: Governor Lawal Addresses-Security Challenges At Northwest Security-Summit (Details)

Governor Daida Lawal of Zamfara State attended the inaugural Northwest Security Summit, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Katsina State government. Held at the banquet hall in Katsina State, the event saw the participation of other Northwest governors.

Governor Lawal highlighted the persistent issues of insecurity and drug abuse in Zamfara State, noting their severe impact on public safety and socio-economic development over the past two decades. He expressed optimism about the summit’s potential to influence future policy and strategies to address these challenges.

“I believe that the outcomes of this summit will be crucial in shaping our future policy decisions and strategies to address these challenges,” he remarked.

Governor Lawal extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, for his ongoing support in combating banditry and crime in the Northwest and Nigeria at large. He also thanked UNDP Nigeria for their indispensable support and expertise in finding lasting solutions.

Furthermore, Governor Lawal commended the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, for his dedication as the Northwest Governors Forum chairman in uniting the region against banditry.

The event was attended by former President Muhammadu Buhari, Federal Executive Council members, regional legislators, the National Security Adviser, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, security chiefs, regional traditional leaders, diplomats, UNDP officials, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders.
