This was disclosed during the Federal Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, where the issue was presented for discussion.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this while briefing State House Correspondents, explaining that the proposal was postponed to allow for broader stakeholder consultation, affecting local government areas, states, and the Federal Government.

Idris mentioned, “Many have asked if the new minimum wage would be discussed at FEC today and if the government would take a position. The tripartite committee’s report, involving the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, the Organised Private Sector, and government representatives, has been reviewed by the President. However, the memo was stepped down to enable further consultations for an informed decision, considering its impact on all levels of government.”
