The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing internal strife following serious allegations of voter fraud involving three chairmanship aspirants ahead of the forthcoming Local Government elections

According to reports, the claims have cast doubt on the integrity of the party’s primary process and could potentially tarnish the APC’s public image.

The three candidates at the center of the controversy include Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, seeking the chairmanship of the Igbogbo Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and Alogba Babawale and Azeez Lamina Oshoala, both contesting for the top seat in Ikorodu Local Government.

Party stakeholders have raised red flags regarding Babawale and Oshoala’s eligibility, asserting that neither resides within Ikorodu Local Government, as stipulated by electoral guidelines. It is claimed that Babawale hails from Ikorodu West, while Oshoala is from Ikorodu North.

Beyond the residency concerns, the trio faces accusations of holding and using multiple Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs)—a serious electoral offense.

A formal petition filed by Jinadu Oshinleye, through legal counsel Chukwuyem Atewe Esq., has been submitted to top APC officials, including the Lagos APC Chairman and Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. The document accuses Aroyewun of violating the Electoral Act.

It alleges that during his 2023 bid for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Aroyewun was registered under Ward Ijede J, Polling Unit 24-12-13-006. However, he is now said to be using a different PVC registered under Polling Unit 24-12-09-009 in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA—an act amounting to double registration.

“This clearly contravenes Section 12(3) of the Electoral Act and INEC regulations,” the petition states, as reported by The Sun.

Even more troubling, the new PVC in question reportedly cannot be verified on INEC’s official portal, raising suspicions of possible fraud.

The petitioner cited prior instances, such as the APC screening process in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government Area, where candidates were disqualified over similar issues, urging the party to maintain consistency and uphold internal discipline.
