Minister Of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Hosts Nigerian Society Of Engineers President To Discuss Strategic Collaboration

In a significant courtesy visit, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Mrs. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, led a high-level delegation to the Honourable Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, to explore avenues for collaboration in driving sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.

This meeting holds particular historical importance, as Engr. Oguntala is the 34th and first female president of the NSE in its 65-year history.

The NSE delegation, which included Deputy President Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, FAEng, and Executive Secretary Engr. Joshua Egube, FNSE, emphasized the critical role engineers play in addressing the infrastructural challenges of the region. The engineers discussed the need for innovative and sustainable engineering solutions to the pressing issues of flooding, erosion, and infrastructure development.

Engr. Oguntala, in her remarks, highlighted the strategic importance of the Niger Delta to Nigeria’s economy and reaffirmed the NSE’s commitment to working with the ministry to develop policies and programs that would leverage engineering expertise to improve the living conditions of the people. She expressed the society’s readiness to provide technical support, advisory services, and project oversight in partnership with the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.

Honourable Minister Engr. Abubakar Momoh commended the NSE leadership for its dedication to professional excellence and national development. He reiterated the Ministry’s openness to collaborate with the NSE, acknowledging the indispensable contributions engineers have made toward nation-building.

“This partnership will be a driving force in addressing the critical infrastructural challenges in the Niger Delta. Together, we can unlock the region’s full potential,” the minister said.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to enhancing the infrastructural landscape of the Niger Delta, with an emphasis on fostering development through sustainable engineering practices.
