Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Davido has revealed that he would prefer his children to pursue careers outside the entertainment industry, citing his personal experiences and family values as key influences. According to Ireporter Online, the singer made this known during an interview on The Breakfast Club, where he spoke candidly about his upbringing, career journey, and aspirations for his children’s future.

The award-winning artiste explained that he would rather see his children involved in the business empire of his father, Deji Adeleke, noting that such a path offers greater stability compared to the uncertainties of the entertainment industry. He disclosed that his perspective is shaped by the challenges he faced early in his career, particularly the lack of support from his father when he initially ventured into music, an experience he said had a significant emotional impact on him at the time.

He, however, noted that his father’s stance eventually changed after he demonstrated unwavering commitment to his craft. Reflecting on family life, the singer highlighted the strong bond between his father and his grandchildren, describing the joy he observes during their time together, especially at family gatherings. He said these moments have reshaped his understanding of fulfillment and influenced his outlook on what truly matters.

Despite his preference for a more conventional career path for his children, Davido emphasized that he would not stand in their way if they choose to pursue entertainment. He revealed that one of his daughters has already shown an interest in music and performance, adding that he would support any of his children who decide to follow that passion.
