Amidst these developments, Bello El-Rufai, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Banking Regulations, tied the knot with his second wife, Aisha Habibu Shuaibu, in a private Nikah ceremony in the nation’s capital. The bride is the daughter of former Military Administrator for Plateau and Niger States, Col. Habibu Shuaibu. The Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, who Bello had previously served as a legislative aide when the governor was a senator, assumed the role of the father of the day at the ceremony.

Reports indicate that El-Rufai had jetted out of the country following his withdrawal from the ministerial race. This comes in the wake of the Senate’s confirmation of 45 out of 48 nominees for President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial appointments. The confirmation of El-Rufai and two others – Stella Okotete (Delta) and Danladi Abubakar (Taraba) – was withheld pending security clearance.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, clarified that the trio’s confirmation was pending due to ongoing security evaluations. Amidst these developments, El-Rufai had a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja before reportedly departing for Europe.
