Nigerians React As FCT Minister Nyesom-Wike Boosts-Security Efforts With Vehicle-Donation (Details)

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike made headlines on Friday, July 5, emphasizing that one of President Bola Tinubu’s primary priorities is ensuring the security of lives and property.

Wike underscored the critical importance of securing citizens’ lives and property for effective governance. He articulated this stance while presenting 50 operational vehicles equipped with communication gadgets to bolster security agencies in the nation’s capital.

The vehicles were distributed as follows: the FCT Police Command received 24 vehicles, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) received eight, and six vehicles were allocated to the Advance Party/Security Monitoring and FCT Administration. The Department of State Services (DSS) received five vehicles, while the Guard Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Air Force 005 Abuja, Naval Unit, Nigerian Immigration Service, and National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency each received one vehicle.

Wike emphasized, “President Tinubu prioritizes the security of Nigerians. It is our duty as a government to equip security agencies with the tools needed to confront criminals and ensure the safety of our citizens.”

He commended the security agencies for their efforts in reducing crime rates in the FCT and assured continued support through providing necessary tools for their operations.

Residents were urged to support and pray for security agencies who often risk their lives in the line of duty.

Earlier in April, Wike had donated 100 motorcycles to security agencies to enhance crime-fighting efforts in remote communities.

Adamu Gwary, Director of the FCT Security Services Department, acknowledged the heightened security concerns in and around the FCT. He emphasized that the new vehicles would significantly enhance the agencies’ capacity to combat crime, respond swiftly to emergencies, and address security challenges in the territory.

Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh, representing the FCT Command, expressed gratitude for Wike’s ongoing support of the security agencies. He pledged that the vehicles would be used exclusively for official purposes to enhance public safety and security.

The gesture by Minister Wike received positive reactions from Nigerians, who applauded the government’s commitment to improving security infrastructure and safeguarding citizens’ well-being in the FCT.
