Joe Ajaero

Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has returned to the Labour House following his recent visit to the Force Headquarters. Ajaero’s appearance at the police headquarters on Thursday comes after he was summoned 11 days earlier by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) over serious allegations, including terrorism financing, treasonable felony, and cybercrime. Initially, Ajaero had not responded to the summons.

On the morning of Thursday, labour leaders rallied at the NLC headquarters in Abuja to show their support for Ajaero. Videos shared on the NLC’s official X account highlighted the solidarity among workers, with leaders addressing the crowd and emphasizing their backing for Ajaero during this turbulent time.

The NLC, a major advocate for workers’ rights across Nigeria, continues to play a crucial role in defending labor interests. Ajaero’s cooperation with law enforcement emphasizes the gravity of the accusations and the NLC’s commitment to engaging with legal authorities.

Later today, Ajaero is scheduled to address journalists, offering more details about the situation and responding to the allegations against him. This press conference is expected to shape the future dynamics between the NLC and the Nigerian government, particularly in the context of labor rights and advocacy.
