NYSC Warns Nigerian Graduates: Steer Clear of Illegal Migration Abroad
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to Nigerian graduates, urging them to avoid illegal migration in pursuit of better opportunities abroad. The organization emphasized that illegal migration often leads to dire consequences, including exploitation, human trafficking, and even loss of life.
During a recent orientation program, NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, highlighted the dangers that young Nigerians face when they resort to unauthorized means of leaving the country. He encouraged graduates to seek legal channels if they wish to travel abroad, stressing that many who engage in illegal migration often end up trapped in inhumane conditions, far from the dreams they initially hoped to achieve.
The NYSC, which plays a critical role in fostering national unity and development, reiterated its commitment to guiding and mentoring Nigerian youth toward productive and legal avenues of success. Brigadier General Ahmed also reminded graduates of the importance of contributing to Nigeria’s growth and development, noting that the nation has the potential to provide the opportunities they seek abroad.
He further urged graduates to explore opportunities within Nigeria, where they can utilize their skills and education to make a positive impact. The NYSC’s call to action is part of a broader effort to curb the increasing trend of illegal migration, which has become a significant concern for the country.
In conclusion, the NYSC’s warning serves as a crucial reminder to Nigerian graduates about the risks associated with illegal migration. By choosing to remain within the bounds of the law, young Nigerians can ensure their safety and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
