The Edo Central PDP Special Committee, led by national leader Chief Tom Ikimi, has adjourned the screening of governorship aspirants from the senatorial zone to January 10, 2024. Aspirants who attended the session included Barr. Anselm Ojiezua, Senator Clifford Ordia, Hon. John Yakubu, Amb. Martins Uhomoibhi, and Barr Asue Ighodalo.

In his introductory remarks, High Chief Tom Ikimi, the committee chairman, expressed gratitude to the aspirants for their dedication to the party’s overall interest and the Esan people. He presented a letter from Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, one of the aspirants, informing the committee of his decision to suspend his aspiration and align with Barr. Asue Ighodalo.

The chairman mentioned the absence of aspirant Hon. Felix Akhabue, aka Joefel, who did not communicate with the committee.

During the session, aspirants provided updates on their consultations. Barr. Anselm Ojiezua informed the committee that he was still consulting and awaiting the outcome of the committee’s decision. Senator Clifford Ordia, emphasizing the party’s overall interest, announced his decision to support Barr. Asue Ighodalo’s ambition.

Hon. John Yakubu reported that he had conducted consultations throughout the state and needed time for further discussions before communicating his decision to the committee within the next 24 hours. He expressed his willingness to submit himself to the committee’s conclusion.
