Peter Obi: “I’m Happy Tinubu Became President

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he is happy that Bola Ahmed Tinubu became Nigeria’s president, despite maintaining that he won the 2023 presidential election but was not declared the winner.

According to Ireporter Online, Obi made the remarks while reflecting on the outcome of the 2023 election and what he described as God’s plan for Nigeria.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate insisted that he emerged victorious in the election, even though the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Tinubu the winner, with Atiku Abubakar finishing second and Obi placing third.

Obi, however, said he remains comfortable with Tinubu’s emergence, explaining that he believes events surrounding Nigeria’s political leadership are part of a larger divine plan.

He said he believes God had a purpose in allowing former President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the country before Tinubu eventually emerged as president.

According to Obi, developments under the current administration are also helping to expose individuals and practices that he believes have contributed to the challenges facing Nigeria.
