According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has accused his twin brother and former P-Square partner, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, of joining online critics in an attempt to damage his reputation.

The latest disagreement between the music stars followed a controversial response by Mr P to a fan’s question about Nigerian languages. His comment, “Who Naija language help?” sparked widespread reactions on social media, with some users accusing him of undermining local languages and culture.

Amid the backlash, Rudeboy shared a post on his X account emphasising the importance of culture, identity and native languages. He stated that his pride as a Nigerian and an Igbo man is deeply connected to his cultural heritage.

Following the criticism, Mr P issued an apology to Nigerians, explaining that his statement was misunderstood and was not intended to show disrespect towards Nigerian languages or traditions.

The singer clarified that the comment originated from a previous conversation about his children speaking French, which led him to consider spending more time in France. He insisted that his remarks were not directed at the Igbo language or any particular Nigerian ethnic group.

However, Mr P expressed disappointment with Rudeboy, accusing him of using the controversy as an opportunity to further attack his image. He alleged that his brother had repeatedly taken advantage of situations where he faced public criticism to make comments that portrayed him negatively.

The singer maintained that while he accepts responsibility for how his words were interpreted, he believes deliberately twisting his statements and using such moments to damage his reputation was unfair.

Mr P recalled previous disagreements between himself and Rudeboy, claiming that his brother had also made remarks about him in the past, including comments he described as disrespectful. He stated that he would no longer remain silent and would respond with the same energy he receives.
