Philip Shaibu , Alimikhena Are Mere Distractions As Oshiomhole Will Ultimately Win Edo North Senatorial District.
The electoral cycle has begun again, and Nigerians are anticipating the numerous leaders that the process will produce. The Edo North Senatorial district is one battle that Edolites and Nigerians are particularly interested in. The outcome of the election is expected to be significant not only for the state but also for the nation.
Francis Alimikhena is the senator representing the district at the moment. He served two terms on the APC platform and intends to run again on the PDP platform for a third term.
His PDP ticket, however, may have been snuffed out by a recent appellate court decision that favoured the Legacy PDP led by Chief Dan Orbih over Obaseki’s New PDP members. If he clears the PDP hurdle, which is highly doubtful given that the PDP legacy members list remains intact at the INEC portal, he will face former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole in the general election.
According to our discoveries, the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who is a renowned benefactor of Adams Oshiomhole’s political school of leaders, has teamed up with the factional ticket holder of the PDP Edo North Senatorial District, Francis Alimikhena, to bring down Adams Oshiomhole, it is a battle of Ego and power.
Shabu intends to succeed Godwin Obaseki as the next Executive Governor of the State, and in order to do so, he will rely on Alimikhena to help cut short the former Labour Leader’s ambition to become a senator. Philip understands that he must secure his senatorial district in order to have leverage in his gubernatorial bid.
Unfortunately, Philip Shaibu lacks such grassroots support; for example, in the last Governorship election, in which he was a candidate by virtue of his running mate status to Obaseki, he lost everywhere in Edo North and was roundly and squarely defeated by the APC as led by Adams Oshiomhole. So, for the Deputy Governor, it is a struggle for the soul of Edo State, not merely a senatorial battle.
The case of the current senator, Francis Alimekhena, is one of greed. Consider a senator who has no particular legacy and has served two terms and now desires to run for a third term with little or no evidence of past performance.
Francis’s leadership is already going down in the history of the Afemai Nation as the worst and most hopeless representation ever, whether in the Senate, the House of Representatives, or the State House of Assembly.
The senator is accused of having a weak and battered oratory that gives him an inferior attitude in front of his colleagues, places him in a helpless position with them and hinders effective representation on the floor of the house.
So it is a war engineered for personal gain rather than ideological reasons; the duo appears to be intent on bringing down Adams Oshiomhole because of his ever-increasing popularity, which transcends the State and cuts across the Federation.
These minor distractions, however, will not deter Adams Oshiomhole, who is clearly on a mission to save Edo North and Nigeria; he was called by his people, not the other way around.
Adams Oshiomhole’s visionary leadership is what has helped Edo State stand out among other states; Auchi is now one of the fastest-growing cities in West Africa. Adams Oshiomhole reinvented governance and moved it closer to the people. When he was Governor, his active commitment to infrastructure development could be observed during his numerous visits to ongoing construction sites.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Deputy Director General has consistently put his people first, and as a result, the people are aware of who is against them and who is on their side.
Adams Oshiomhole and Dan Orbih are the two national leaders we have from both parties in the State; it is unfortunate that Philip Shaibu, who should have joined forces with Chief Dan Orbih to at least protect the leadership of Edo North, is hell bent on destroying them.
He is actively discrediting Edo North leaders at a time when they should be building a strong team that cuts across party lines for the post-presidential election reconstruction process. He carried out the same action under the APC, and he intends to carry out the same action under the PDP.
Oshiomhole’s mandate reflects the people who want to see growth, development, infrastructure, quality education, good roads, good legislation, and a slew of other proverbial benefits of democracy that Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole represents.
