Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor’s spokesperson, informed the affected reporters that they should return to their respective offices to arrange replacements from their media organizations.
No specific reason was given for the withdrawal of their accreditation. However, in a WhatsApp message shared with the Government House press crew, Bature urged them to comply with the directive, effective from Tuesday.
“Esteemed members of the press, I wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work over the past year and few months,” Bature’s message began.
He further explained, “While I was away in the Republic of Serbia last week, certain issues arose, and leadership had to make critical decisions.”
Bature emphasized that this decision does not mark the end of their professional relationship, and he expressed hope for future collaborations. He added that the list of the Government House press team is due for a complete replacement.
Among those affected are Aliyu Yusuf, Director of Public Enlightenment, and Sani Suraj Abubakar, Public Relations Officer, along with a number of journalists representing various media outlets, including ARTV, Freedom Radio, AIT, NTA, and Pyramid Radio.
The message concluded by directing the dismissed crew members to report back to their respective organizations for reassignment.
