Rescue Mission Success: IOM Brings Home 180 Nigerians Stranded In Libya!
A group of 180 Nigerians who were stranded in Libya returned to their homeland on Wednesday evening, representing a significant humanitarian effort to assist those in need.
The returnees touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos around 7:30 PM on a charter flight operated by Al-Buraq Airlines.
Among the returnees were 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 infants.
This evacuation was made possible through a collaborative initiative involving the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Territorial Office.
Upon their arrival, the Nigerian Immigration Service carried out biometric profiling of the returnees to ensure accurate documentation and assistance.
Various government agencies also provided humanitarian support to help the returnees reintegrate into society.
The IOM continues to play a vital role in assisting Nigerians stranded abroad, and this recent evacuation highlights the organization’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of migrants.
The government is devoted to offering the necessary support to help the returnees successfully reintegrate into their communities and rebuild their lives.
