Sokoto Govt Knocks Tambuwal– You Have Desecrated The Holy Month For Claiming Your Party’s Victory Was Stolen
The Sokoto State Government has strongly criticized former governor Aminu Tambuwal and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for alleging that victory was stolen from them in the 2023 governorship election in the state. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) refuted the opposition’s claims, asserting that they were mistaken to believe they won the 2023 elections in the state……READ ALSO Presidency Urges Sokoto Govt To Prioritize Reduction Of Maternal, Newborn Deaths
Speaking through a statement on Wednesday, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Sambo Danchadi, argued that the assertion of election manipulation against the PDP’s candidate, Alhaji Sa’aidu Umar, was both ludicrous and disrespectful to the many Sokoto people who voted overwhelmingly for the ruling party and its governorship candidate, now Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
Danchadi’s remarks came in response to Tambuwal’s recent address to party supporters and stakeholders in Sokoto, where he alleged that the PDP did not lose the 2023 governorship election but was deprived of victory.
The ruling party reiterated that the PDP was rejected at the polls by the people due to its poor performance while in power.
Danchadi emphasized that Tambuwal’s claim that the PDP won the 2023 governorship election but was cheated out of victory amounted to desecration of the holy month.
He pointed out that the PDP only secured the majority of votes in five out of the 23 local government areas in the state.
The commissioner further highlighted that the APC not only won the election but also justified its victory by addressing the issues over which the election was contested.
He cited improvements in security, stating that the state was now more secure. Danchadi concluded by saying that the removal of the PDP from the Sokoto Government House was a matter of good riddance, still celebrated by the people.
