Sunday School’s Message Of Unity And Support: Standing Behind President Tinubu’s Subsidy Removal Decision
Welcome to today’s Sunday school lesson on leadership and trust, led by Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah. Today, we will discuss the significance of supporting President Tinubu’s new administration and the removal of fuel subsidy. We will explore biblical passages that shed light on the importance of listening and supporting our leaders in their decision-making.
The Role of Leadership:
As Christians, we understand that leadership plays a vital role in guiding and governing a nation. In Romans 13:1, the Apostle Paul writes, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” This passage reminds us of the divine origin of authority and the importance of respecting and submitting to our leaders.
The Case for Subsidy Removal:
President Tinubu’s decision to tackle the issue of fuel subsidy is a courageous step toward addressing long-standing economic challenges in Nigeria. In Proverbs 20:18, we find wisdom: “Plans are established by counsel; by wise guidance, wage war.”
This verse encourages us to recognize the importance of thoughtful planning and wise guidance when confronting societal issues. The government’s decision to remove the subsidy is a strategic move aimed at promoting economic stability and growth.
Trusting God’s Guidance:
Supporting President Tinubu’s administration requires trust in God’s guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” By acknowledging God’s sovereignty and seeking His guidance, we can trust that the decisions made by our leaders are aligned with His divine will.
Unity and Support:
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other stakeholders play a crucial role in shaping national policies. However, it is essential for them to give listening ears to the government’s rationale for subsidy removal. In Psalm 133:1, the psalmist writes, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” This verse emphasizes the importance of unity and cooperation among all parties involved, fostering an environment where the nation can progress together.
In conclusion, let us reflect on the potential benefits of the subsidy removal under President Tinubu’s administration. While it may require adjustments and sacrifices, this decision has the potential to promote economic stability, encourage investment in alternative energy sources, and foster long-term sustainable development.
By redirecting the funds previously allocated to subsidies, the government can allocate resources towards critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure, benefiting the welfare of all Nigerians.
As we navigate this change, let us trust in God’s guidance, support our leaders, and work together to build a prosperous and equitable future for our nation.
