The incident occurred on Sunday morning when over 30 terrorists, suspected to be kidnappers, infiltrated the area. According to residents, the assailants surrounded the communities, fired sporadically, and forcibly entered homes, causing widespread fear and panic.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the attack in the Guto community. She stated that operatives of the command, in collaboration with officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) and local hunters, trailed the attackers and engaged them in a gun duel at Gauraka Forest, which borders Niger State and the FCT.

SP Adeh noted that two of the kidnapped victims, 15-year-old Mart Ojadi and 12-year-old Evelyn Chinaza, were rescued by security operatives. She reported that the kidnappers were overwhelmed by the operatives, forcing them to flee into nearby bushes with varying degrees of bullet injuries. The two rescued victims were unharmed.
