The Federal Government Forms Committee To Simplify Visa Acquisition For Investors (Full Details)
The Federal Government has approved the establishment of a tripartite committee aimed at streamlining visa procedures and acquisition for investors interested in investing in Nigeria.
This decision was revealed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Tuesday, chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Addressing reporters, Idris highlighted the need to simplify visa processes to enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria. He announced that investors and tourists would soon find it easier to acquire a visa within 48 hours.
The ongoing FEC meeting, which began on Monday, May 13, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was extended to Tuesday to conclude deliberations on various important matters.
Minister Idris had informed journalists about the extension of the meeting on Monday, stating that significant decisions were being made and the outcomes would be communicated afterward.
He said, “The council meeting will continue tomorrow, therefore, there will be no press briefing today. A lot of far-reaching decisions are being taken, and the conclusions will be made available to you tomorrow.”
The FEC meeting, the first since March, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, ministers, and heads of parastatals.
