In a ceremony attended by key stakeholders, including UNICEF, President Bola Tinubu expressed gratitude to partners for their collaboration and commitment to realizing shared goals.

The launch of the e-CRVS represents a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s quest for accurate and reliable demographic data. The system is a fundamental building block of the nation’s identity ecosystem, aiming to improve service delivery, care, and knowledge for the Nigerian people.

It will also serve as a vital source of identity data for various federal agencies, including NIMS-C, NIS, road safety, police, EFCC, and other security outfits.

The e-CRVS is expected to empower federal agencies to generate essential vital statistics on population events and migration, facilitating the design of tailored, effective, and efficient policies to meet the needs of the Nigerian population.

Tinubu highlighted the importance of accurate population data, especially during disasters, to assess their impact and respond effectively. He also underscored the significance of the e-CRVS system in working towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets related to real-time identity management and population data.

The ceremony also commended the progress made in delivering the first digital population and housing census, with the expectation that the results will provide vital data for development planning and good governance.

The government is fully committed to supporting the National Population Commission and the implementation of the e-CRVS, including utilizing geospatial data collected through enumeration area demarcation.
