Tragedy: Army Soldier Ends His Own Life In Front Of Barracks-Gate After Self-Inflicted Gunshot (Photos)

A solemn incident unfolded at Ngwa High School in Abayi, Osisioma LGA, where a soldier attached to the 144 Battalion’s Forward Operation Base (FOB) took his own life in front of the camp gate.

Identified as Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Vitalis from Okpuala in Imo State, the senior non-commissioned officer shot himself, leaving colleagues and military authorities stunned.

The motive behind this tragic act remains unclear as there was no suicide note found at the scene. Sources indicate that only a discreet investigation will shed light on what prompted the soldier to take such a drastic step.

CSM Vitalis, who was due to retire in October, had been missing for two weeks before returning to the army camp and ending his life, baffling those who knew him.

The Army Public Relations Officer (APRO) Lt. Prince Innocent Omale could not be reached for comment at the time of reporting, leaving unanswered questions about this heartbreaking incident.
