The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, made the grim disclosure in a statement issued late Tuesday, shedding light on the tragic events that unfolded. According to Chinaka, the police received a distressing report in the morning hours regarding a murder case involving the elder Ogbonna, whose life was purportedly snuffed out by his own flesh and blood.
Upon arrival at the crime scene, detectives were met with a gruesome sight: Mmaduka Ogbonna’s lifeless body, bearing signs of violence, with his left eye gouged out. The prime suspect, Chinalu Ogbonna, was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement officers. Shockingly, investigations revealed that Chinalu had allegedly strangled his father to death, with intentions reportedly linked to money rituals involving the extraction of his father’s left eye.
As the investigation progresses, the deceased’s body has been transferred to the morgue for autopsy, while key exhibits have been recovered to aid in the inquiry. The perpetrator, Chinalu Ogbonna, awaits trial as the wheels of justice turn in response to this heinous act.
A community source, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed a troubling facet of the case, describing Chinalu as known for his involvement in substance abuse. The source lamented the tragic irony of Chinalu being his father’s favored child, despite his alleged misdeeds.
This chilling incident underscores the urgent need for heightened vigilance and community support in combating domestic violence and substance abuse. As Abia grapples with the aftermath of this senseless tragedy, collective efforts are imperative to ensure justice for the victim and prevent similar atrocities from occurring in the future.
