Nigerian music sensation and Grammy winner, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, continues to mourn the profound loss of his mother, Mrs. Jane Morayo Balogun. The emotional impact of her passing is vividly captured in his latest collaboration with Asake on the song ‘MMS’.

In a deeply personal verse, Wizkid shares the journey of grief and self-discovery that followed his mother’s death. He reveals how her loss made him feel lost but ultimately led him to rediscover his purpose.

In the song, Wizkid poignantly sings:

Wizkid’s mother passed away on August 18, 2023, in London, a loss that has left an indelible mark on the singer’s life. On her posthumous birthday on July 4th, he expressed the depth of his sorrow, describing his life as empty without her presence and confessing that his heart is “broken forever.”

In her honor, Wizkid announced that he would be releasing a new album titled ‘Morayo’, named after his late mother’s middle name. This album stands as a testament to her enduring influence on his life and music.
