Youth Leader Reacts As Tinubu Suffers Insults During Rivers Rally
The Rivers State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, which co-organized the mass rally in support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday, has clarified that the rally was not intended to disrespect President Bola Tinubu.
The Council’s Chairman, Chijioke Ihunwo, made this clarification during a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

He emphasized that the clarification was prompted by the recognition that certain individuals might exploit some comments made during the rally to coerce the Rivers State Government into supporting a campaign against the President after his intervention in the state’s political impasse.

Ihunwo clarified that the rally was neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Rivers State Government but arose from a genuine affection for Governor Fubara and the desire to safeguard their votes, similar to their commitment to protecting those of the President.
He assured President Tinubu of their support and appealed for forgiveness in case participants at the rally made inappropriate remarks.
The youth leader expressed confidence that the President would uphold democratic principles in the state, drawing parallels with Tinubu’s track record as the Governor of Lagos State and other instances in the country’s history.
Chijioke Ihunwo assured that the National Youth Council of Nigeria and other youths in the state are prepared to support Governor Fubara’s decisions in establishing lasting peace in Rivers State.
However, he urged politicians from the state to always prioritize the interests of the youth before taking any actions.
