Wurgi, a wanted criminal associated with the murder of a Sokoto monarch and closely linked to infamous terrorist Bello Turji, initially suffered gunshot wounds during the confrontation but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the incident, stating, “The neutralized terror leader, Bako Wurgi, had provided valuable intelligence that supported troop operations prior to his death.”

Regarding security measures for the festive season, Major General Buba underscored the importance of heightened vigilance: “Troops are on high alert and have escalated their readiness to protect the nation from further terrorist threats, especially during the yuletide. We are conducting robust operations targeting terrorist leadership across multiple operational areas.”

In related efforts, two high-profile terrorists, Hamisu Sale, known as Master, and Abubakar Mohammed, have been apprehended in the North Central region. Both individuals are said to be cooperating with authorities and offering critical intelligence related to the terror network.

These developments mark ongoing initiatives to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure the safety of the public during the holiday season.
