The Rise And Rise Of Dennis Idahosa: From House Of Rep Member To Edo State 001
Dennis Idahosa, recognized as one of the youngest and most dynamic members of the House of Representatives, has significantly distinguished himself through the exceptional representation of the vibrant people of Ovia Federal Constituency. His commitment to public service and legislative responsibilities in the Green Chamber has earned him widespread recognition and support.
Beyond his impactful role in the House of Representatives, Idahosa has set his sights on a higher aspiration – the governorship of Edo State. This ambitious move reflects his dedication to contributing to the progress and development of the state, and it marks a significant stride in his evolving political journey.
As he positions himself for this new challenge, Dennis Idahosa continues to be a prominent figure in the political landscape, drawing attention for his vision and commitment to public service.
In conversations with Edo North leaders, it has become evident that Dennis Idahosa is viewed as a strong contender within the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the gubernatorial race. His dedication to public service and his resilience in the face of challenges have garnered praise from influential figures.
During a recent gathering in Auchi, Edo North leaders expressed their confidence in Idahosa’s ability to secure victory if chosen as the APC candidate. One leader emphasized, “Among the contenders, who has demonstrated exceptional courage and effectiveness against intimidation? It is Dennis Idahosa, also known as DENCO, a force who defeated both Igbinedion and Obaseki with their rigging machinery.”
Let’s revisit the events earlier this year when Governor Obaseki tried to leverage his influence as Edo State Governor. His aim was to manipulate the political landscape, attempting to sideline Dennis Idahosa and force the ‘rejected’ Igbinedion upon the people of Ovia.
The leaders emphasized the importance of selecting a candidate with a proven track record of success, stating, “Our decision is to nominate someone capable of winning the election, not someone who struggles even to secure victory in their polling unit.”
It’s crucial to highlight that Dennis Idahosa, alongside another APC House of Representatives member, distinguished himself as one of the few politicians in Benin City who did not only secure victories in their polling units but also emerged triumphant in their respective constituencies for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This accomplishment has significantly elevated his standing among the people, overshadowing the State Governor and deputy who couldn’t secure a win even in their polling unit for their principal, Atiku Abubakar.
At this pivotal moment, there’s no denying that Dennis Idahosa’s pursuit of the governorship presents a substantial challenge to political heavyweights within the All Progressives Congress and other party members in the state. The inevitability of his clinching the APC ticket and subsequently winning the gubernatorial election becomes apparent, contingent on the conduct of a free and fair electoral process by the electoral body.
