During a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Abuja Archdiocese of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, led by Archbishop Most Reverend Michael O. Akinwale, Wike emphasized the pivotal role played by the church in maintaining national cohesion.

“The role the church is playing is very important. So, the government will always partner with the church and other religious groups because the government cannot do it alone,” remarked Wike, echoing sentiments expressed by the President regarding the nation’s need for prayers for peace and stability.

He underscored the significance of the church and other responsible religious bodies in praying for the nation’s unity, stressing that their efforts are crucial for Nigeria’s continued coexistence.

“As FCTA, we take responsibility for maintaining the Christian Centre and the National Mosque. These are two national assets for which the FCTA is responsible for their maintenance because we all believe we serve one God,” assured Wike, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting religious institutions.

Wike pledged the support of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to the Methodist Church and expressed readiness to welcome the head of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, Most Reverend Oliver Aba, on a visit.

His remarks underscore the importance of religious institutions in fostering national unity and solidarity, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed to sustain Nigeria’s cohesion and progress.
