Nigeria’s Lekki Port Launches Strategic Shipping Partnership With COSCO, ONE, And ZIM

Lekki Port, Freeport Terminal, and Lagos Free Zone have officially launched a new shipping alliance with COSCO, ONE (Ocean Network Express), and ZIM, marking a significant milestone for Nigeria’s maritime industry and international trade. Christophe Cassang, CEO of Lekki Freeport Terminal, emphasized that the partnership with global shipping leaders would strengthen the terminal’s position as a leading maritime hub in West Africa, creating new trade opportunities for Nigeria and the region.

Du Ruogang, Managing Director of Lekki Port, described the alliance as a key achievement, showcasing the port’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure. The launch also marks the beginning of bi-weekly calls from the COSCO, ONE, and ZIM consortium, aimed at increasing cargo volumes and improving efficiency for businesses across the nation.

Adesuwa Ladoja, CEO of Lagos Free Zone, highlighted that the new shipping services would attract significant foreign direct investment (FDI) to the region. The arrival of these major shipping lines, she noted, would offer businesses more options and foster economic growth by facilitating direct imports of raw materials and exports of finished goods globally.
