30 Security Volunteers Killed In Clash With Bandits In Niger
In a tragic incident in the Dogon-Dawa community of Mariga Local Government Area in Niger State, at least 30 members of the volunteer security group known as Yan Sa Kai lost their lives in a clash with armed bandits. Sources from the area reported significant casualties on both sides, although the exact number of casualties among the bandits remains uncertain. Mariga Local Government Chairman, Abbas Kasuwar Garba, expressed sorrow over the incident, particularly emphasizing its timing as residents, predominantly farmers, were gearing up for the farming season.
Garba urged residents to maintain calmness while assuring that the government would investigate the circumstances surrounding the clash. However, attempts to obtain responses from the Niger State Government and the Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
