This meeting comes after President Tinubu called for calm and directed the AGF to collaborate with the National Assembly to address the contentious aspects of the bills. The Senate has since set up a panel to work closely with Fagbemi, but the process has faced delays due to internal disagreements over the panel’s membership and caucus meetings.

According to a source familiar with the matter, the AGF will attend the National Assembly on December 19 to finalize discussions on the Tax Reform Bills. The meeting will also feature the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, and key members of the Senate Special Committee.

The committee, led by Senator Abba Moro, has been tasked with liaising with Fagbemi and addressing the unresolved issues. The members of this committee include influential Senators from both the ruling and opposition parties.

The Senate has been actively involved in fine-tuning the Tax Reform Bills, with an emphasis on resolving contentious points to move the process forward.
