Bandits Boldly Use Phones for Calls and Videos, Unchallenged – Shehu Sani Raises Alarm
Former Senator Shehu Sani has voiced serious concerns about the audacious activities of bandits in Nigeria. According to Sani, these criminals are making and receiving calls, recording videos of themselves, and sharing them freely without facing any consequences.
Sani emphasized that Nigeria’s telecommunication networks have the capability to track phone calls made from any location in the country. Despite this, bandits continue to operate with impunity, openly recording videos and capturing images of themselves without concealing their identities.
“If I make any phone call from this studio, there is no way our telecommunication system will not have detected where I have been making these calls,” Sani said. “Yet, these bandits use their phones to make calls, record videos, and send them, and nothing happens. They even record themselves without masks.”
Sani’s remarks highlight a troubling gap in the security response to banditry, raising questions about the effectiveness of current measures in tracking and prosecuting criminal activities facilitated through modern communication technologies. The former Senator’s comments underscore the need for improved coordination between telecommunication authorities and security agencies to address this glaring issue.
