These “online Top-Up” programs are offered in collaboration with foreign accredited universities, as stated by the NBTE’s Head of Media, Fatima Abubakar.

Previously, attempts to secure approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for a two-year Master of Technology program for HND holders in some Polytechnics faced challenges.

HND holders often find themselves compelled to pursue a one-year Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) before being admitted to Master’s programs in universities, leading to certain disadvantages.

To address this issue, NBTE has established this progression pathway for HND holders.

Additionally, the Board has introduced an HND admission portal accessible to all Polytechnics, featuring only accredited programs, with viewing rights granted to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for efficient mobilization of admitted candidates.

The Board has also made an appeal to President Bola Tinubu to sign the Bill that removes the HND-BSc Dichotomy in the public service.

This bill was passed by the 9th National Assembly and is intended to put an end to discrimination against graduates of the polytechnic system, thus promoting equal opportunities.
