BREAKING: Obidients Jubilate As Labour Party Defeats APC In Key State Governorship Election Tribunal (DETAILS)

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal convened in Umuahia has, on Friday, rejected the petition filed by IIkechi Emenike, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), against Abia State Governor Alex Otti from the Labour Party (LP).

Justice Omolara Adeyemi, in delivering the judgment, clarified that the plea from the APC’s gubernatorial candidate was legally unconventional and consequently dismissed the petition on the grounds of lacking merit.

This ruling affirms Otti’s legitimacy as the duly elected governor of Abia State.

Furthermore, the tribunal had previously dismissed a petition brought forth by Ambrose Ahaiwe and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Abia State’s leader, citing a lack of substance.

In upholding Otti’s victory, the tribunal contended that the concerns raised about Otti’s eligibility to run in the election and the arguments put forth by the petitioners fell under pre-election matters. As a result, the tribunal declared that it lacked jurisdiction to consider the case.
