BREAKING: Police Arrest Powerful Boss Over Allegations Of Fraudulently Diverting Payments For Crude Oil (PHOTO)
The Chairman of Platform Capital, Dr. Akintoye Akindele, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force on allegations of fraudulently diverting payments for crude oil supplied to Duport Midstream Company Limited.
Akindele received an invitation from the Nigeria Police Force to appear on Monday, July 24, 2023, but reportedly left the country without honoring the invitation.
Efforts to get Akindele to account for the crude oil he allegedly sold and received payment for were unsuccessful, according to sources.
In addition to the diversion of payment for crude oil, Dr. Akindele is also under investigation based on a separate petition filed by concerned shareholders of Duport Midstream Company Limited, accusing him of misappropriating millions of dollars of company funds.
Sources within the company revealed that Akindele, who also serves as the interim Managing Director of Duport Midstream, acknowledged receiving the funds but has refused to provide a proper account of how the money was used.
He has also resisted all attempts by the board-appointed forensic auditor to investigate discrepancies in the company’s financial records.
Sources close to the police have confirmed that he is currently in their custody for questioning and may face possible prosecution as the investigation into the allegations against him continues.
