“Education Is Your Strongest Weapon” – LCDA Chairman Tells Students In Badagry

According to Ireporter Online, the Chairman of Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Raul Yemaren, has appealed to students to steer clear of cultism and bad associations, stressing that such influences destroy ambitions and hinder success. He made the call during a parade to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary at Gbaji-Apa Mini Stadium in Badagry.

Yemaren described cultism as a spoiler of dreams, urging young people to remain disciplined and focused, and to serve as worthy ambassadors of the LCDA. He noted that education remains the most powerful tool to shape their future, assuring students of his administration’s commitment to investing in their growth and providing opportunities for their aspirations to thrive.

Reflecting on the significance of Independence Day, Yemaren emphasized that the celebration goes beyond the country’s freedom to symbolize a renewed commitment to building a stronger and greater nation. He saluted President Bola Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is rebuilding trust, driving reforms, and steering Nigeria toward prosperity. He also commended Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for delivering impactful projects across transportation, education, health, technology, and security under the THEMES+ Agenda.

The council boss highlighted some initiatives already embarked upon since assuming office, including intensive environmental sanitation at Gbaji-Owode and Yard Crossover Bridges, distribution of over 250 GCE forms to support students, and regular engagements with security agencies to safeguard border communities.

He further disclosed ongoing projects such as the construction of a new primary health centre at Asheri, perimeter fencing at Methodist Primary School, Sawa, and preparations for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre at Ganyigbo-Topa, for which four plots of land have already been acquired. According to him, the CBT Centre will place students in Badagry-West at a competitive advantage in examinations and digital opportunities.
