Ekiti Government Pledges Partnership With Federal Government For Tourism Advancement

Governor Oyebanji made this declaration on Monday during the 6th edition of the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari, held at Abanijorin Mountain and Cave in Iyin-Ekiti.

The event witnessed the presence of notable figures including the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Lola Ade-John; Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye; Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye; and Director-General of NIHOTOUR, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, among others.

The governor emphasized that a strategically developed tourism sector holds the potential to reshape the economy and enhance the state’s revenue streams. He emphasized Ekiti State’s commitment to leveraging tourism for attracting investments, job creation, economic stimulation, and advancing the shared prosperity agenda of his administration.

Expressing his optimism, the governor stated, “I’m thrilled that we are finally breathing life into this program. It commenced six years ago, and I am confident that to drive our shared prosperity agenda in Ekiti State, tourism is indispensable for providing employment, generating wealth, and fostering a healthy and productive society.”

Governor Oyebanji further outlined the government’s directive to the Bureau of Tourism Development to formulate a comprehensive tourism master plan for the state, aligning with the Federal Ministry of Tourism’s strategy to create a conducive environment for communal prosperity.

In her address, Minister of Tourism Mrs. Lola Ade-John emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts among government entities, tourism agencies, businesses, and communities worldwide in promoting sustainable tourism in Ekiti State and beyond.
