Emmanuel Amuneke Welcomes Potential Move Of Victor Osimhen To Paris Saint-Germain

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed his approval of the potential transfer of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This development has gained traction over the week, with reports indicating that PSG is close to securing the services of the 25-year-old striker, contrary to earlier speculations that Osimhen preferred a move to the Premier League.

The rumors gained more credibility when renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared on his X page that negotiations between PSG and Osimhen’s representatives were progressing well.

Further reports from Sky Italia revealed that Napoli, Osimhen’s current club, is willing to negotiate a transfer fee lower than the €130 million release clause in the striker’s contract. This clause was reportedly a significant barrier for Premier League clubs interested in Osimhen.

In addition, sources in France and Italy have claimed that Osimhen and PSG have already agreed on personal terms. This implies that once Napoli and PSG settle on a transfer fee, the deal is virtually sealed.

Amuneke, who coached Osimhen at the under-17 level, expressed his satisfaction with the striker’s decision to join PSG. Speaking to ScoreNigeria, Amuneke stated, “PSG is a big team that plays in the UEFA Champions League. It will be a welcome development if he moves there. To grow is a welcome development after he has done a lot for Napoli. He’s our star, he has to be playing, and he knows what he wants.”

Meanwhile, Napoli assistant coach Cristian Stellini acknowledged the challenge of replacing Osimhen. According to Italian publication Calcio Mercato, Stellini said, “For the succession of Osimhen, I would choose an attacker with a strong physical construction, just like Victor. And someone who has multiple weapons, such as being able to score goals and making and supporting teammates better in the attack.”

As the transfer saga unfolds, it remains to be seen how the final agreement will pan out, but the potential move to PSG is certainly seen as a positive step for Victor Osimhen’s career.
