for self-determination.
In a statement on Monday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB alleged that these political actors are working with external forces to tarnish its reputation and undermine its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as well as the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The group claimed that the politicians’ goal is to sabotage IPOB’s mission for a United Nations-supervised referendum and to dismantle its security wing.
“They are driven by envy of Nnamdi Kanu’s global influence and are collaborating with historic enemies of the Igbo race to derail IPOB’s mission. These plans will never succeed,” the statement read.
IPOB dismissed accusations linking the ESN to rising insecurity in the Southeast, describing such claims as state-sponsored propaganda.
“It defies logic to blame ESN for every act of criminality. Insecurity in the region only escalated in 2022—two years after ESN was established. Such claims are baseless,” IPOB asserted.
The group also alleged that security agencies and politicians have funded criminal elements to infiltrate and undermine IPOB’s legitimate activities.
Despite these challenges, IPOB reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime in collaboration with local security outfits while pursuing its goal of Biafran independence through peaceful means.
“Biafraland will not fall to jihadist agendas, and the Igbo people will never be subjugated to external interests, no matter the cost,” the group declared.
IPOB urged Nigerians to see through the “propaganda” against its cause, calling for vigilance in identifying those truly responsible for insecurity in the Southeast.
Concluding the statement, the group reiterated its stance against all forms of criminality and oppression while pledging to continue its fight for the liberation of the Igbo people.
