The update was disclosed by the Minister of Interior and chairman of the Board, Olubumi Tunji-Ojo, during a quarterly review meeting with key stakeholders.
In his address, Minister Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of expediting the recruitment process to fill essential positions within the Federal Fire Service (FFS). He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s firefighting capabilities and providing adequate resources to support emergency response teams.
Prospective candidates who have applied for the Fire Service recruitment are advised to remain vigilant for notifications via email and SMS, providing instructions on further steps in the selection process. The Board has urged applicants to utilize only official communication channels and avoid responding to messages from unauthorized sources, to prevent falling victim to fraudulent activities.
Furthermore, Minister Tunji-Ojo reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and warned against individuals or entities attempting to extort money from applicants in exchange for favorable placement. He assured that the recruitment process would be conducted with utmost transparency and fairness, in line with established guidelines and regulations.
In addition to the recruitment update, the CDCFIB also disclosed disciplinary actions taken against erring officers within the paramilitary services under its purview. A total of 118 cases were reviewed, resulting in various measures ranging from discharge and dismissal to retirement and demotion, based on the severity of the offenses committed.

As the recruitment process progresses, stakeholders anticipate a strengthened Fire Service equipped to handle diverse challenges and safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerian citizens.
