In an interview with Punch, Osuntokun explained that the primary reason for the inability to pay party agents was the lack of sufficient funds. He revealed that the party encountered a situation where individuals serving as agents and polling agents were not remunerated due to financial constraints.

Osuntokun stated, “I don’t know. We are not in a position to pay all our polling agents. That is the truth. We never had the money to do so. We had to narrow it down to where we can.”

He acknowledged that many agents were not compensated, attributing it to their voluntary efforts in various parts of the country.

Osuntokun addressed claims suggesting that funds were available but not utilized appropriately, asserting that the available funds were insufficient to cover all areas.

While acknowledging the existence of funds, he emphasized that they were utilized to settle specific obligations. Osuntokun also commented on the diverse motives within the Labour Party, highlighting the challenge of navigating through different ideologies within a short timeframe.

“In the short period that we had to put everything together, there was no room to separate the wheat from the chaff,” Osuntokun added.
