The decision, endorsed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole, was based on recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 219th session.
Among those expelled are Lateef Lukman Olayemi, Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan, Adebisi Janet Bosede, Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi, and Ashekun Oladiji Quadri, spanning various departments and levels of study.
The shocking revelation comes as Unilorin maintains a zero-tolerance stance against academic misconduct, reaffirming its commitment to upholding integrity and excellence in education.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund Executive Secretary, Akin Sawyerr, announced plans to disburse student loans directly to institutions to prevent diversion.
Despite this, lecturers from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, under ASUU, have expressed skepticism, labeling the initiative as a potential threat to public universities’ funding and the welfare of Nigerian students.
