Gov Sule: ‘Abuja Politicians Caused APC’s Loss In Osun
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has attributed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s defeat in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election partly to the activities of politicians based in Abuja.
According to IReporter Online, Sule made the remarks on Tuesday while presenting Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) acknowledgement slips to APC candidates contesting the governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Nasarawa State.
The governor argued that APC’s candidate in the Osun governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, could have emerged victorious if certain politicians from outside the state had not interfered in the electoral process.
Sule also suggested that the election outcome demonstrated the political strength and influence of the incumbent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
He maintained that those celebrating the APC’s defeat might not fully understand the factors behind the result, arguing that Adeleke’s position as a sitting governor played a significant role in the outcome.
The Nasarawa governor, however, expressed continued confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the President had performed well since assuming office.
Sule also urged APC candidates in Nasarawa to remain focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections and avoid actions capable of creating divisions within its ranks.
He cautioned the candidates against sycophancy, blackmail, underhand tactics and other forms of political manoeuvring that could damage the party’s unity and electoral prospects.
The governor further warned against anti-party activities and political realignments, urging candidates to campaign consistently for the APC and its candidates rather than supporting candidates of rival parties.
Sule stressed that voters and party members would take note of such actions and could respond accordingly at the polls.
He therefore encouraged the APC candidates to remain loyal to the party, mobilise voters and work collectively to secure victory for the party in upcoming elections.
