“I Hated Producing Psquare’s Hit ‘Personally’” — Vtek Makes Sh*cking Revelation

According to Ireporter Online, renowned Nigerian music producer Victor Kpoudosu, popularly known as Vtek, has shared a surprising revelation about his experience producing Psquare’s 2013 chart-topping hit, “Personally.” The hitmaker disclosed that the production process, which lasted two weeks, tested his patience and discipline in ways he never anticipated.

Speaking in a recent interview on SelahMeditate’s YouTube channel, Vtek recounted how the celebrated music duo’s working pace greatly differed from his own. He described Psquare’s approach as slow and meticulous, in contrast to his preference for swift production.

“It took a while because beyond the work, they were also traveling. They would do some parts of the beat, then go, come back, record two lines, and go again. Their process was slow. I hated it,” he revealed, adding that it took them two weeks to complete “Personally.”

The producer, known for his rapid production style, said the experience became a valuable lesson in patience and artistic respect. “It was a very hard discipline and patience for me at that stage, but it helped me till today because I’m still fast,” he said.

Expressing confidence in his speed and creativity, Vtek boasted that few producers could match his pace in the studio. “I can say this without a shadow of a doubt — I dare anyone to try to compete. In music making, I’m like the speed of light. I don’t know anyone who does it faster than I do, and that’s a fact,” he declared.

Despite his initial frustration, the award-winning producer admitted that the slow-paced process with Psquare ultimately shaped his understanding of collaboration. “It felt like torture at the time, but I learned to respect other artists’ creative processes. I realized it’s not just about bringing people into my world but meeting them halfway to create something unique,” he said.

Reflecting on that experience, Vtek acknowledged his youthful impatience during that period, saying, “All these things I’m saying, I was a lot younger then, so it’s not like I could have told them, ‘Guys, after one week, it’s over.’”
