The advisory, released on Monday, referenced “potentially inflammatory” online remarks by some South Africans against Nigerians living in the country, especially in light of the upcoming AFCON semi-final.

The High Commission, situated in Pretoria, South Africa, cautioned Nigerians to remain vigilant and exhibit good behavior before, during, and after the match.

In an interview with Channels Television ahead of Wednesday’s AFCON semi-final, Peterside insisted that there exists a rivalry for supremacy between the two nations, which extends beyond football and borders on xenophobia.
