Irrua Stands Still As Dignitaries Pay Last Respect To Gen Cecil Esekhaigbe Rtd’s Mother

The funeral rites, which began on November 1, 2024, with a service of songs at General Cecil Esekhaigbe’s residence, culminated in a special thanksgiving service at Annunciation Catholic Church, Irrua, on November 3.

Dignitaries from various walks of life gathered to pay their respects, including General Alexander Ogomodia, Senator Adams Oshiomole, Colonel Ernest Kizito Attah, and Momoh Abubakar.

In their tributes, they described Madam Esekhaigbe as a foremost indigenous business tycoon, a consummate community leader, and a successful entrepreneur.

General Alexander Ogomodia praised Madam Esekhaigbe for raising an outstanding son whose life has positively impacted thousands.

Similarly, Senator Adams Oshiomole acknowledged her philanthropic and peace-building efforts, which have benefited not only her family but also the entire community, state, and nation.

Other notable figures who paid tribute include Hon Barr Ken Ihensekhien, Rt Hon Dr Justin Okonoboh, Barr Monday Eboigbe, Chief Dr Augustine Ojiezele,Engr Gideon Ikhine,Rt Hon Barr Thomas Okosun, Comrade Augustus Eriaria,Alhaji Tankon,Engr Victor Ugboh,Hon. Gabriel Oiboh, Chief Useli Ekoma, General Charles, and Professor Paul Edornigie, among others.

The funeral service was attended by former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomole; former administrator of Cross River, Colonel Ernest Kizito Attah; captains of industry; state commissioners; and government parastatals.

The outpouring of support and admiration from these dignitaries reflects the significant impact Madam Esekhaigbe had on her community and beyond.
