Kanye West’s Controversial Album ‘Vultures 1’ Banned From Apple Music Amid Copyright Dispute
Kanye West’s latest album, “Vultures 1,” sparked controversy and legal trouble as it disappeared from Apple Music just days after its debut, following copyright infringement allegations. Reports surfaced suggesting that the album’s distributor, FUGA, initiated its removal from all streaming platforms due to unauthorized uploads by Kanye, violating service agreements. The infringement issues intensified when Spotify removed the track “Good (Don’t Die)” due to copyright claims from Donna Summer’s estate, adding fuel to the ongoing dispute.
In a statement, FUGA confirmed their efforts to cooperate with digital service providers and the client to promptly remove “Vultures 1” from their systems, acknowledging the breach of their service agreement.
While the album remains accessible on Spotify for now, the removal of “Good (Don’t Die)” underscores the legal complexities surrounding Kanye’s use of copyrighted material, particularly a sample from Donna Summer’s 1977 hit “I Feel Love.” Summer’s estate publicly accused Kanye of copyright infringement, alleging his unauthorized use of the song despite previous rejection of his request to incorporate it into his track.
The unfolding saga adds another layer of controversy to Kanye’s recent activities, including his headlining appearance with collaborator Ty Dolla Sign at the Rolling Loud music festival and ongoing legal battles over alleged copyright violations. As the dispute unfolds, the fate of “Vultures 1” on streaming platforms hangs in the balance, highlighting the complexities of intellectual property rights in the music industry.
