King Charles Ousts Prince Andrew: Strips Titles, Evicts Him From Windsor Home

King Charles III has officially stripped his younger brother, Prince Andrew, of his royal title and ordered him to vacate his long-time Windsor residence, in what observers describe as one of the monarch’s most decisive moves since his accession to the throne.

According to Ireporter Online, the action follows renewed public backlash over Andrew’s controversial ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — a scandal that has persistently clouded the image of the British Royal Family.

In a statement released on Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced that the King “has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles, and honours of Prince Andrew.” The 65-year-old royal will henceforth be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, effectively losing the right to be addressed as “Prince.”

The palace also confirmed that Andrew has been served a formal notice to surrender the lease on Royal Lodge, his Windsor home of more than two decades. He is expected to relocate to Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where his future residence will be privately financed by the King.

“These actions are necessary,” the palace statement continued, “notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny all allegations made against him. Their Majesties extend their deepest sympathies to all victims and survivors of abuse.”

In addition, Andrew’s former wife, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, will also be affected by the royal directive. The 66-year-old author and television personality—who has retained her title since their 1996 divorce—will reportedly vacate Royal Lodge and revert to her maiden name.

While the removal of the Duke of York title would require an act of parliament, Andrew voluntarily stopped using it earlier this month amid growing public and political pressure.

The King’s decision comes just weeks after the posthumous release of Nobody’s Girl, a memoir by Virginia Giuffre, who reiterated her long-standing claims that she was coerced into having sex with Andrew as a teenager—allegations the Duke has repeatedly denied.

The scandal intensified recently when leaked emails revealed that Andrew remained in contact with Epstein months after declaring their relationship severed in 2010.

Prince Andrew’s reputation has suffered irreparable damage since his ill-fated 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, which prompted his withdrawal from public duties. In 2022, he settled a U.S. civil lawsuit filed by Giuffre without admitting liability, a move that led Queen Elizabeth II to revoke his honorary military titles and royal patronages.
