The victims, which included two women and four children, fell victim to armed assailants on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
During the burial ceremony held on Saturday, April 6, the District Head, Ochala Onu-Ife Bagaji Odo, Omala, Chief David Akpa, condemned the attack as barbaric and wicked.
“We are mourning our loved ones who were killed in cold blood. We have never had any misunderstanding either with bandits or with herdsmen before now,” Chief Akpa lamented.
Expressing fear and apprehension, he added, “As it is now, we are living in fear, more so that we heard that they are coming to Bagaji Odo, where surviving victims are taking refuge. We are pleading with the federal and state governments to come to our aid and protect us from bandits.”
Chief Akpa revealed that the recent attack marked the second assault in 2024, intensifying fear and insecurity among the residents.
The incident highlights the urgent need for government intervention to ensure the safety and security of communities vulnerable to such attacks.
