Kogi-Youth Leaders Forum Defends-Governor Ododo Against Allegations Of Shielding-Yahaya Bello (Details)

The Kogi Youth Leaders Forum (KYLF) has strongly condemned accusations targeting Governor Usman Ododo for allegedly shielding his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, from prosecution. In a statement released on Tuesday, KYLF convener Benjamin Oguche dismissed the claims as politically motivated and urged detractors to allow Ododo to focus on his gubernatorial responsibilities.

Oguche labeled the accusations against Bello as political witchcraft aimed at tarnishing his reputation unfairly.

He asserted that the ongoing trial of Bello by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was being exploited by political opportunists to achieve their vested interests both within and outside the state.

“It is evident from the malicious accusations of the Northern group that Yahaya Bello’s predicament is not solely about alleged financial impropriety. It is clearly a case of political persecution and the age-old tactic of smearing one’s name to discredit them,” Oguche remarked.

He further criticized the notion that Governor Ododo was protecting Bello, emphasizing that such claims were baseless and aimed at distracting the governor from his duties with frivolous allegations.

Oguche challenged those making allegations to substantiate their claims with credible evidence, particularly in light of the modest budget allocations received by Kogi State during Bello’s tenure.

“With the matter already before the courts, it is unjust to vilify a man whose leadership was dedicated to the welfare of his people,” Oguche concluded, questioning the motives behind the persistent attacks on Bello despite similar situations involving other influential figures.

The KYLF’s statement underscores their unwavering support for Governor Ododo and their stance against what they perceive as unwarranted political maneuvers aimed at destabilizing the state’s leadership.
